As technology advances, today’s youth gain more knowledge and adapt to modernization. Embracing this transformation, the Information and Technology Department of Bulacan State University (BulSU) Bustos Campus successfully hosted the Second Alliance of Students in Information and Computing Sciences (ASICS) SUMMiT on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the campus Activity Center. The event carried the theme “ReimAgIne Tomorrow: Decoding the Future of Technology through AI.” Attended by Information and Technology students from first to fourth year, the summit provided an in-depth discussion on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its role in career and education. Campus Dean Prof. Bobby Dg. Lopez, in his opening remarks, emphasized AI’s growing influence on human functions. However, he also mentioned, “Technology keeps evolving, but it can never replace humanity,” Professor Lopez reminded the students. Additionally, he emphasized that while technology continues to advance, the unique traits and strengths of humans remain irreplaceable and can only be enhanced through modernization. Key speakers from the ASICS Organization as well delivered insightful discussions on AI’s applications and challenges. Dr. Ciriaco M. Garcia, Chancellor for External Campuses, highlighted the responsible use of AI for research and innovation, citing personal experiences as an AI user. Meanwhile, Eliezer Rabadon from DENSO Company delved into the profitability of online gaming, an industry that thrived even before the rise of e-commerce. Beyond its advantages, the summit also tackled AI’s ethical concerns. Dr. Keno C. Piad, Vice President for Research Extension and Innovation, stressed that, “AI should be an aid, not a replacement for human expertise.” The discussion also covered pressing issues such as AI accountability, plagiarism, originality concerns, and over-reliance on AI—problems that persist due to misuse. Various industry experts also led sessions on crucial topics, including cybersecurity, digital credentials, generative AI essentials, and the future of jobs in emerging technologies.. First held on March 12, 2024, the ASICS SUMMiT continues to provide students with insights into AI and emerging technologies, reinforcing BulSU-Bustos’ commitment to responsible digital innovation. | 📷: Ivan Manalad, Ralph Aaron Silvestre via Anika France Bisco, Ivan Manalad, and Edrian Palinis, THE FORERUNNER #TheForerunner #UntiltheInkRunsDry
